The third Future Materials Encounter explored the versatility of mycelium through the years-long experience of GROWN bio.
This biotechnology company based in the Netherlands has researched how mycelium can be transformed into a structural, stable, and regenerative material that can function as compostable protective packaging, building material and in interior design, using just agricultural waste and little water.
During the workshop, participants had the possibility to gain insights into various possibilities of working with mycelium and in how this material invites to redefine the human role in the process of creation. By making their own samples, participants learnt how to grow mycelium and utilise it in their practices.
